HP's product line aimed at business use is made up of the Compaq 8000f and 8100 Elite series and the notebook lines with a similar purpose, the company has also debuted a newcomer to the Z workstation family. Dubbed the HP Z200, the computer is aimed at engineers and designers and will perform especially well when running the Autodesk and AutoCAD applications or Photoshop.

“HP continues to exceed customer expectations with a range of business products designed with both the environment and productivity in mind,” Stephen DeWitt, senior vice president and general manager, Personal Systems Group, Americas, HP, said. “With great designs, energy-saving features and efficient, faster-performing products, customers can feel confident choosing HP products to better position themselves in the ever-competitive business world.”

The HP Z200 may be built with future Intel Core i3 or i5 processors or quad-core chips based on the Intel Xeon 3400 family. The platform itself is flexible and will utilize the power of Intel's technology to the max. The press release didn't offer many details but did mention that the product would be an affordable option. This implies that the actual workstation might use Intel Integrated Graphics and a hard drive at around 160GB.

What was mentioned was that the HP Z200 would come pre-installed with the HP SkyRoom and even the recently unveiled HP performance Advisor tool. This software will update the setting and drivers and preserve optimal performance and system stability. The Advisor is exclusive to HP workstations and comes at no additional cost.

The Z200 will be complemented by the HP ZR22w and HP ZR24w Performance Displays. The monitors come in 21.5 inches and 24 inches and make use of the IPS Panel technology. They are affordable while boasting 16.7 million colors, which is the equivalent of a 96% coverage of the sRGB gamut. The displays have an eight-way, comfort-adjust stand and are ENERGY STAR 5.0 qualified.

Starting at $769, the HP Z200 workstation is expected to become available in the U.S. next month.
