Bohemia Interactive has announced that it plans to release the 1.05 patch for its military simulation ArmA 2 before the end of the year, complete with a host of tweaks of bug fixes, and coming with a new bonus campaign for all the long time fans, called “Eagle Wing.” Unfortunately, no clear date has been revealed yet.

The new campaign will heavily feature the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, allowing for players to see what happens after one of the possible endings of the original game.

The expansion sees a year 2012 when the conflict, which was initially confined to Chernarus, is spreading into a full war between the Russian Federation and the United States. The player is a helicopter pilot who must get behind enemy lines and attack the targets deemed important by their commanders.

Patch 1.05 for ArmA 2 will also introduce a new game mode, called “When Diplomacy Fails,” which includes “3-side support for diplomacy between all factions,” making it easier for players to set up complex games where the power of their armed forces must be balanced with the power of their diplomatic skills.

Marek Spanel, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Bohemia Interactive, stated that “At Bohemia Interactive we make a continuous commitment to support our products. This latest update 1.05 reaffirms our commitment to ARMA 2 and our community at large: it includes the free downloadable content as our way of saying thank you to all those who buy our games and provide us support and feedback from around the globe. We continue to be amazed by the many ways our community is constantly expanding on our game with addons, mods and usermade missions. With this level of continued activity surrounding our game it's our pleasure to be able to support this extensively post-launch.”
