Mobile-phone maker Palm seems set to bring to the market new handsets powered by its webOS platform. Although the company has been recently acquired by computer maker HP, which is more interested in having the mobile operating system powering tablets and other products, it seems that Palm will still release new devices, though there are no specific details either on when they would actually arrive on the market, or on whether they would actually be smartphones.

Palm's Developer Relations team is the one that let the info on new devices slip in the wild, it seems. According to a recent article on PreCentral, a representative with the mobile-phone maker has recently said that the company is already working on the development of future devices, which means that HP won't be the only one to have webOS running on new products. Moreover, said representative has also unveiled that the company is working on new versions of the operating system.

Among the novelties to expect from upcoming webOS flavors, we can count support for adobe Flash. Palm and Adobe have been working on this for quite some time now, and it might not be too long before the first results are seen. “Adobe and Palm continue to work together to bring Flash Player 10.1 to WebOS as quickly as possible. At present, the integration work between the Player and WebOS is undergoing extensive testing to ensure we deliver a high quality implementation,” Palm said on the matter.

In related news, we learn that webOS 1.4.5 might be just around the corner. Palm is said to be in the process of giving the solution, which should arrive soon, the final touches. Although soon might mean several weeks, it seems that the release of the new platform version is quite close, and that all users out there should enjoy it, except for those on AT&T's airwaves in the US.
