The device seems to perform about four times faster than iPhone

Palm's upcoming Pre handset is reportedly going to be a rather attractive device, with a lot of features that are meant to leverage the user experience, as well as with some capabilities that prove it to be a more powerful handset than the iPhone is at the moment. And the web browser Pre will come with is stated to be one of those features.

Ever since it was announced back in January, Palm's Pre has been seen as a direct competitor to iPhone, hence the comparison that anyone would make between the two devices. At the moment, Apple's handset is one of the most powerful mobile phones available on the market, and it stands above the rest when it comes to its browsing capabilities.

Yet, once Pre will be here, this state of facts is most likely to change, as seen at the recent webcast Sprint and Palm held on the device. To be more specific, Pre was showed there as being able to load a rather complex site in about 8 seconds, which makes it a speedy device. In comparison with Pre's performance, states Kevin C. at jkontherun, the iPhone was only able to load the same website in about 30 seconds, which is more than four times lower.

The first question that would come to anyone's mind is whether or not Pre had the page loaded from cache, thus resulting in a faster loading speed. Even so, given the fact that the iPhone does not remember pages in its cache, Pre still has an advantage over Apple's device. For what it's worth, Palm indeed showed to the world a device that could beat Apple's iPhone, yet we will still have to wait to our hands on the actual product to make sure that it is really capable to deliver all that performance.
