Just a few days after Celvo officially announced the high-performance P270WM notebook design, Origin PC has joined the ranks of Eurocom and Maingear by introducing its own version of Clevo’s Sandy Bridge-E equipped laptop.

Origin PC’s creation was released into the same EON17 series as its predecessor, but has now received the addition of an X at the end of its name to differentiate it from the previous model.

Users who want to go for the EON17-X, as this is called, can configure the notebook to feature Intel’s high-performance Core i7-3930K and the Core i7-3960X desktop CPUs and up to 32GB of quad-channel DDR3 memory.

In the standard configuration, Intel’s powerful processors are paired together with a GTX 580M graphics card, but for an extra fee users can upgrade to an SLI setup or to Nvidia’s professional-grade Quadro 5010M GPU.

Furthermore, for $50 (37.7 EUR) more Origin’s clients can also opt for having the GPU overclocked, which should deliver some extra performance when gaming.

The rest of the EON17-X specifications list includes support for up to three hard drives or SSDs, a 17.3-inch glossy screen with 1080p resolution, a DVD burner and a Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N 802.11 b/g/n WiFi card.

As far as connectivity is concerned, Origin’s latest notebook has all the usual features found in such high-performance devices, including dual USB 3.0 ports, FireWire and eSATA connectivity, HDMI and DVI video outputs, a media card reader, a backlit keyboard, as well as high-definition audio.

"Origin is thrilled to answer our customers' requests by adding a customizable backlit keyboard to the EON17-X." said Kevin Wasielewski Origin PC CEO and co-founder.

"The EON17-X is more powerful than a lot of desktops on the market. With an Intel X79 chipset and dual overclocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580Ms in SLI you won't find a more powerful laptop anywhere else," concluded the company’s rep.

The Origin EON17-X high-performance is available now from the company’s Website starting at $3,159, about 2,386 EUR. A 3D enabled model with a built-in IR glasses emitter will be unveiled in Q2 2012.
