Origin PC has just announced that the company’s desktops can now be configured with the Frostbyte 360 liquid cooling system which allows for their systems to be overclocked to speeds of up to 5.2GHz without overheating the CPU.

The Frostbyte 360 comes as an enclosed liquid cooling loop which pairs a high-efficiency triple 120mm copper radiator with a high-flow and extremely silent pump.

In addition, the Frostbyte 360 also sports an embedded temperature sensor that is placed right in the copper surface of the water block. According to Origin, this can display the temperature of the copper base with an accuracy of +/- 1°C.

“Until now, extreme overclocking required hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of components including pumps, radiators, coolant hoses, fittings, and expensive water blocks," said Kevin Wasielewski, Origin PC CEO and cofounder.

"With the Frostbyte 360, a maintenance free liquid cooling solution, Origin PC customers can enjoy top-end CPU performance at a fraction of the cost," concluded the company’s rep.

In real world terms, “a fraction of the cost” translates into $196 (149 EUR), which means that an Origin PC Genesis desktop configured with the Frostbyte 360 starts at $1599 (1,218 EUR).

For this much money, users will get a system built around an Intel Z68 motherboard and Core i5-2400 CPU, but other Sandy Bridge processors are also available, including the multiplier unlocked K-series chips.

Furthermore, clients have the option of customizing this setup any way they like, with dual- or triple-GPU graphics and up to four drives in RAID, and Origin also offers its users the option of choosing to go with a factory-overclocked CPU.

Like all other of Origin's systems, the Genesis can also be designed with a custom paint job, but this option will add another $613 (459 Euros) to its base price.
