A new Android-based mobile phone is now available for purchase in the UK via wireless carrier Orange, namely San Francisco, an affordable device meant to bring Android to the masses.

The new mobile phone runs under the Android 2.1 operating platform, and offers fast access to a wide range of applications, including Orange Wednesdays, Orange Maps, aimed at providing great experiences to users.

Moreover, the handset can prove a great option for those fond of listening to music on their phones, as it packs both a MP3 player and FM radio.

The specifications list of this handset includes a 3-megapixel photo snapper, complemented by great connectivity options, such as WiFi / Bluetooth / USB / SatNav.

On top of that, the new handset comes with support for 3G+ connectivity, offering fast access to the Internet while on the go.

“Offering fantastic value with all the functionality and style that you'd expect at a higher price, the San Francisco is perfect for keeping in touch with friends and family,” the wireless carrier announced.

The device is paired with the operator's pay as you go Dolphin plan, enabling users to stay in touch with social networking sites like Bebo, Facebook or Twitter even when on the go.

Phil Roberson, Director of Devices said: “The San Francisco is the first in a series of affordable Android devices we have planned for Orange. Combining its great functionality with our pay as you go price plans, really does offer users tremendous value for money”.

Some of the applications and features included in the device would be: Orange Maps, Orange Messenger by Windows Live, Orange App Store, Email, Orange Wednesdays.

Measuring 116 x 56.5 x 11.8 and weighing in at 130g, the new device comes with 150 MB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The new mobile phone is available at Orange for only £99 on pay as you go options. It can be purchased from Orange shops, Orange telesales and from the carrier's website.
