Wireless carriers Orange and T-Mobile UK have announced not too long ago plans to put together their networks to offer wireless services to the largest customer base in the UK, and they have just announced that all 30 million customers of the newly merged company Everything Everywhere should benefit from free network roaming starting with October 5.

To be more precise, starting with that day, both Orange and T-Mobile users should be able to switch to either of the two networks, to enable them benefit from the best connectivity experience.

“From 5th October, 30 million customers – the combined customer base of Orange and T-Mobile in the UK - will be offered the opportunity to access both networks, enabling them to make calls and send texts in more places in the UK for no extra cost,” the two companies announced.

According to Everything Everywhere, the biggest communications company in the UK, this would be the first benefit Orange and T-Mobile can enjoy following the merger of the two companies.

The move marks the biggest network coverage improvement on the UK market, as the two networks are available for almost half of the UK population.

Access to both networks is offered to interested customers who sign up for this free of charge, without affecting their current tariffs or call or text charges.

As soon as customers register for the feature, in case the signal is lost on the existing network, the handset should pick it up automatically from the other network when it is available, which means that connectivity is now available in more areas than before.

Everything Everywhere is set to offer the best network experience to Orange and T-Mobile customers in the UK, enabling the best network capacity, reach, speeds and coverage available.

Starting with the next year, users should benefit from enhancements such as automatic switching to the network that has the strongest signal in the area, even when in the middle of a call, not to mention that enhanced data and Internet coverage are also coming to them.

“This is the beginning of an ambitious plan to give our customers instant access to whatever they want, wherever they are – instant access to everything everywhere,” Tom Alexander, CEO of Everything Everywhere commented.

“From next month, we will give almost half of the British population the opportunity to use their phones in more places than ever before. As well as continuing to benefit from their existing network, Orange customers will be able to make calls and send texts on the T-Mobile network and T-Mobile customers will be able to do the same using the Orange network.
