In the land of demanding home theater enthusiasts, Oppo is one of the most renowned brands available, so many will rejoice when hearing that the BDP-93 3D Blu-ray player is now available for order on the company's website for no more than $499.00, an OK price point considering its powerful hardware and strong feature list.

Compared to other players available on the market, Oppo's creation supports 3D Blu-ray, Internet video streaming as well as SACD and DVD-Audio Disc playback, making it one of the few remaining universal players out there.

Furthermore, the player also features USB and eSATA ports allowing for thumb drives and portable HDDs to be connected, the installed firmware featuring VCHD, MP4, DivX, MKV, FLAC, WAV and other audio/video/picture file format support.

But the most important thing that Oppo Blu-ray players are renowned for is their impressive image quality, and the BDP-93 doesn't disappoint in this regard either as the unit is built using Marvell's Kyoto-G2 video processor that is based on the second generation Qdeo technology.

This controller offers a wide range of image enhancements, including video noise reduction, compression artifact reduction, intelligent color, contrast, detail and edge enhancements and, if implemented properly, can offer excellent deinterlacing and 1080p upscaling for DVD playback.

On the connectivity side of things, we get wireless-N, a built-in RJ45 Ethernet port, two HDMI v1.4a outputs as well as a source direct mode for users who want to use an external video processor, high-end audio/video receiver or display, the original audio/video content on the discs being sent out with no additional processing or alteration in this way.

In addition, the dual HDMI adds more versatility to the BDP-93 as users can connect one HDMI output directly to a 3D-TV, while using the second HDMI output for connecting a separate audio feed to a pre-3D capable home theater receiver or system.

As stated earlier, the Blockbuster on Demand and Netflix-enabled, Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray 3D player can be ordered from the company's website for $499.00. (via Audioholics)
