The Nokia Beta Labs have recently announced that the Nokia Share Online application, which allows users to easily share photos or videos from their mobile phones, has been updated to version 4.3. The app integrates with Ovi by Nokia, as well as with other media-sharing services, and now it has reached version 4.3 beta.

According to the developers, the new Share Online 4.3 beta comes as an update for versions 3.1 and 4.0, which can now be found on several Nokia handsets such as the 6220 Classic, 5320 XpressMusic, N78, N79, N85 and N96.

The new release brings forth a series of new features, including Direct share to Contacts, an option that allows users to share files directly with the contacts in their address book, or the Improved Post Editor, which is meant to make uploading easier through the use of a streamlined post editor screen. In addition, users will also find it easier to select destinations for sharing and upload, while viewing the items that are being uploaded has been simplified as well.

The new features available with the Share Online 4.3 add to those that version 4.0 brought along, including Background Uploading with Outbox, eliminating the need to wait for an item to upload before sending another one, an option to view pending uploads, or review, cancel or retry specific uploads, as well as the Economic Sharing, which allowed users who didn't have a data plan to disable the use of cellular data in the Share Online settings, which queued the photos and videos to be uploaded for the time when a WLAN connection was available.

While the new 4.3 version works with Symbian S60 version 3 Feature Pack 2 devices, the team states that version 5 will also receive support in the near future. The Nokia N78, N79, N85 and N96 are the phones featuring support in the 4.3 release. At the same time, there are some incompatibility issues that users should be aware of, including the fact that the Nokia Share Online v4.3 should not be installed over the 4.0.09.05, 4.0.09.06, 4.0.09.07, 4.0.09.08, 4.0.09.09, 4.0.09.10 versions due to a compatibility problem with the photos framework.
