Only luxury additions

Being a part of the Arte family, the Gold Arte is, as Nokia sees it, a device that does not need too much introduction, since the Finish manufacturer released photos, but very little information regarding the handset on its website. In any case that's not necessarily a bad idea, as this makes it easier for us to really enjoy the luxurious features of this mobile.

At first sight, this Arte is actually the Carbon model with the extra-expensive and definitely more elegant features. Come to think of it, the technical specs of the phone are exactly the same as in the case of the Carbon, and no design changes besides the ones previously mentioned have been made. However, the Arte models were never about technical details and if we were to describe one focusing only on these details, we wouldn’t manage to reveal even half of what makes these devices what they are.

Anyway, as we’ve just said, the specs of this Nokia handset should give you a feeling of deja-vu as they match perfectly the ones of the Carbon model. The main features are the 2'' QVGA 16M color OLED display, the 3.2 Megapixel autofocus camera, and the 4GB of on-board memory. The really sad part here is that the device does not include a card slot, thus imitating the Carbon entirely. Given the fact that it is a luxury edition, such an addition would have been most welcomed and fans would have probably devoured it in an instant. Nonetheless, there are plenty of other features that are going to catch your eye.

This Gold Arte's form factor, as you probably recall from the Carbon, is a bit strange and hard to explain, as the display and the navigational buttons slide to unveil the not that impressive, ordinary keypad. However, the much-appreciated accelerometer-based features, namely tap-for-time and turn-to-mute, probably represent the best ones the phone has in common with the Carbon.

Moving on to the juicy stuff, the 8800 Gold comes with an 18-carat gold plating and the spectacular white leather “clothing.” These two additions represent the actual salt and pepper of this phone, turning it into a somehow classier and much more appealing mobile, especially thanks to the marvelous white leather.

As mentioned earlier, the device was not properly introduced by Nokia and very few details were released, so no pricing information is available.
