Although Nokia announced that its N9 MeeGo smartphone will not be launched in the United Kingdom, it appears that the handset will be available for purchase after all.

It looks like the Nokia N9 is now available for pre-orders from online retailer Expansys UK, which allows customers to register with their emails to receive information about the phone's availability.

Even though Expansys UK has yet to announced the smartphone's price, it seems that there are no less than six N9 variants available for purchase, by color and storage: black 16GB, black 64GB, cyan 16GB, cyan 64GB, magenta 16GB, and magenta 64GB.

It appears that Nokia N9 is limited to several Europeans countries only, and is expected to make its debut on August 19 in Russia. However, the Russian release date has yet to be confirmed by the Finnish handset manufacturer.

Furthermore, the N9 is now confirmed for September 15 in Switzerland via Orange, and for September 23 in Sweden.

On related news, Swedish electronics store CDON is now offering the Nokia N9 16GB version for SEK 6,490 (roughly $1,000), while the 64GB version is priced at SEK 7,490 (about $1,200).

Nokia N9 comes with an unusual 3.9-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

In addition, the N9's screen is protected by Gorilla glass and features anti-glare polarizer, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate.

Nokia N9 is equipped with a single core 1GHz Cortex A8 TI OMAP processor, complemented by a PowerVR SGX530 GPU (graphics processing unit).

The phone lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion, but packs 16GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM. It is also worth mentioning that the N9 supports only MicroSIM cards.

Nokia N9 boasts a superior 8-megapixel main camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, dual LED flash and video recording capabilities (720p@30fps), as well as a secondary front-facing camera.
