Nielsen//NetRatings brought to the world some rather surprising information about Nintendo's growing adult customers. According to USA Today, more than one in three U.S. adults who go online/ 37% of the adult population, own a video game console and 16% own a portable gaming device. "As game consoles have become increasingly sophisticated, families have incorporated them into their centralized home media centers, which include the television, digital recording device, digital music player and the PC," said Carolyn Creekmore, senior director of media analytics.

Every major console making company bets on a certain aspect when it comes to introducing the world to their system, whether it is visuals, control connectivity and even price. Nintendo's bet was on the motion-sensitive control and by God, were they right? Not only does the Wii strike everyone with a pleasant surprise when they first get their hands on the Wii Remote, but the system is also quite cheap (around $250 at the time) and bonds gamers and non gamers as well.

Many people find playing games a not so interesting activity but that suddenly changes when they grab the Wiimote and give it swing on Wii Sports. It's pure fun, so it shouldn't be such a big surprise that adults dig it almost as much as kids do. It kind of is a kid's console if we think of the titles available for it, but grown-ups need to play and have fun too. And another thing: Nintendo's machine is the safest of the lot, regarding violence or sex in games. Parents are made aware of that and they choose it for their offspring. Done deal!
