On May 20, as a 20-key messaging phone

According to the latest news on the Web, wireless carrier T-Mobile is on its way to release yet another affordable, easy-to-use entry-level handset, the Samsung T349, which would be the second low-end device coming from the Korean mobile phone maker reported to be released into the wild lately, following the Samsung Smooth U350 that went to Verizon.

One thing is for sure when it comes to the new Samsung T349, namely the fact that the handset in itself comes with a rather simple candybar design, nothing fancy, except maybe for the 20-key keypad that resembles a lot those sported by the BlackBerry Pearl and Pearl Flip.

T-Mobile seems to plan on marketing the device for its messaging capabilities, as the carrier describes it internally as a “20-key messaging phone,” and the available image with the phone indeed shows said keyboard, though the photo is a little bit blurry.

The specification list of the Samsung T349 shows not only the 20-key keypad, but also a 1.4-megapixel photo snapper that includes video recording capabilities, along with the messaging functionality, including SMS, MMS, Email and instant messaging. The mobile phone comes with Bluetooth connectivity and speakerphone as well.

Other features of the new handset include photo caller ID, alarm clock and calculator, GPRS connectivity, not to mention mobile backup. According to the news, the device is expected to become available for purchase for both pre- and post-paid subscribers as soon as May 20. The new Samsung messaging phone will be the first new device added to T-Mobile's pre-paid lineup in the past few years, says BGR. Unfortunately, it seems that there are no details on its price tag for now, yet expect it to remain in the cheap phone area.
