According to the latest news on the Web, FCC has just approved a new Samsung handset, namely the SGH-i637. At the same time, we also learn that the mobile phone might come to the AT&T lineup of handsets in the near future.

The FCC seems to describe the new Samsung SGH-i637 as an “850/1900 GSM / GPRS / EDGE / WCDMA / HSDPA phone,” which would suggest that the device is heading towards AT&T. At the same time, the new phone is reported to come with Media FLO, which, as many of you might already know, is the operator's TV service.

Unfortunately, for the time being, it seems that there is no proper picture with the new Samsung i637 available over the Web, but there are some of the specifications of the new mobile phone. From what we've seen, the device should run under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. The spec list shows it as sporting Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR capabilities, a Music player, while being powered by a 1,000 mAh battery.

More features of the new Samsung SGH-i637 handset would also point towards quad-band GSM, WCDMA, EDGE, dual-band UMTS / HSDPA (850 and 1900) frequencies, as well as GPRS capabilities. The handset might also come enhanced for messaging functionality.

The sketchy image with the handset’s back, in the well-known FCC style, does not say too much about the device. Given its rather narrow shape, it is highly probable that it will not include a QWERTY keyboard though.

At the same time, there are some voices over the Web that suggest the phone might resemble some older Samsung models, like the Epix, but for the time being those are only speculations. More details on the new phone will emerge as soon as AT&T or Samsung decides to officially announce the device.
