One of the new interesting devices that have been recently unveiled to the world is the Samsung SPH-W7100. This mobile phone is a uniquely designed handset, given the fact that it includes a 100dB alarm siren, which makes it the first phone in the world to pack such a feature.

The Korean mobile phone maker developed the handset with an alarm siren that is linked to the local emergency services, meant to offer its owner extra safety. In case that anything goes wrong, users who activate the alarm should get help from the authorities in the shortest time possible. To make things even easier, the handset comes with a built-in GPS receiver, a feature that will send the user's GPS coordinates to the emergency services, speeding up the arrival of help.

According to the phone manufacturer, the new Samsung SPH-W7100 has been developed mainly for Korean women and children. The new handset is expected to hit the market as soon as next month in Korea. At the same time, provided that the device sees great traction on the market, the company might also plan to make the phone available on other markets as well in the near future.

Another thing that points towards the availability of the new Samsung SPH-W7100 in other areas is the fact that it has already gained FCC approval about two months ago. This would suggest that Samsung is also targeting the United States market with this interesting device.

The inclusion of an alarm siren into this phone does sound interesting to most of us. On the other hand, it might also be seen as a clamshell that annoys people, especially if someone manages to crack the handset and the function that contacts the local security services stops working. Maybe Samsung took into consideration situations like this one as well.
