Insomniac said there would be a sequel, Sony is saying that mere add-ons are on the way

In his interview with LevelUp, Phil Harrison stated something rather intriguing but also a little confusing, about the future of Resistance: Fall of Man which is beginning to sound more and more like a franchise, Insomniac's Ted Price also hinting a while ago that a sequel for the game is in the works. When asked about possible future content for Insomniac's Resistance: Fall of Man, Sony president worldwide immediately and without hesitation replied:

"We have some really, really cool things that will be extending the story, extending the locations, some brand new content, starting in April. So if that works well and is well-received by the audience, then that will keep the engagement with game going between now and should there be a sequel at some point in the future." So what exactly are they going to do? Are they working on add-ons like Sony's president is implying or is a Resistance sequel in the scope, like Insomniac's Ted Price has led us to believe?

Resistance: Fall of Man follows an alternate history where the world did not experience WW II, the Great Depression, or the rise of Communism in Russia. An era of peace and prosperity follows the Great War, ending with the revelation of a ruthless and destructive race called the Chimera. The Chimeran virus originates in Russia, which quickly falls to the threat. The Chimera begin to build their army and invasion infrastructure. This is where the story of U.S. Army Ranger Sgt. Nathan Hale begins, who seems to have somewhat of a 'resistance' to the Chimeran virus (he does not fall into a vegetative state when infected). So obviously, he becomes the key figure in a desperate operation launched to try and halt the invasion.

So what other content should we be expecting from a game such as this, other than a few multiplayer maps or multiplayer modes? No, that would be a mere first guess and what Sony and Insomniac should be hiding in their basements (given their contradictory statements) is probably new downloadable content via PlayStation Network.
