Motorola has recently added a new mobile phone to its ROKR music line, the MOTOROKR W6, a clamshell developed so as to fulfill the needs of both music and sports enthusiasts, thanks to a series of new tools that will allow users to organize their training sessions, keep track of their physical condition, and more.

One example of such a utility is an application meant to create a training plan for the user, which only requires some specific information like name, age, weight or height. The new MOTOROKR W6 enables its owners to store the duration of their aerobic sequences along with the burned calories, while also offering them the possibility to export that info in Excel format so that they could check on the progress at all times.

The music capabilities of MOTOROKR W6 mark another side of the device. There are music-dedicated keys allowing users to fast and easily access their favorite songs, offering them a way to activate and control the player even when the phone is closed, while the included MOTOID feature can identify songs in any environment.

The specification list of the handset also shows EDGE capabilities, Bluetooth technology with 2 STEREO capabilities, enabling users to listen to music through wireless headphones, Crystal Talk technology to improve sound quality, a 1.3-megapixel photo snapper that sports video recording capabilities and 20MB of internal memory, coupled with a microSD memory card slot that supports up to 2GB of additional storage space. The phone also includes Push-to-Talk capabilities, as well as a battery that can provide up to 400 minutes of talk time and up to 350 hours of standby time.

“The mobile phone is the device that accompanies the user throughout the day. Thinking of sports lovers, we developed a handset that provides communication and entertainment, while also allowing them to control their physical exercises,” said Jose Luis de la Vega, director of Marketing Business Cellular Motorola Mexico.

The MOTOROKR W6 will come to Mexico at first, though other countries might follow in the near future as well, but there are no details on the price tag of the handset unveiled at the moment.
