MetroPCS has recently announced that it registered a record number of new net subscribers in the first quarter, and now we learn that the company has released another mobile phone, the Motorola QA30 Hint, after having added its first smartphone and BlackBerry device to its lineup.

The new mobile phone comes to the operator's offering in an extremely compact form factor, which slides open to show a full-QWERTY keyboard. The Motorola QA30 Hint is quite small, as it measures only 3.23 inches in length and 2.43 inches in width when closed. MetroPCS offers the handset for $249.00 without a contract, and those interested in it should access the company's site to learn more or to acquire it.

The specification list of the device shows a large 2.5-inch QVGA display, which covers almost all of the front side, while on the back we can find a 2-megapixel photo snapper that also includes video recording capabilities. 140MB of built-in memory allow users to store messages and multimedia files, while a microSD memory card slot offers the possibility to expand the available memory even more.

In related news, we learn that the mobile phone carrier has canceled the launch of another Motorola phone, the Evoke QA4 touchscreen slider, expected to come to its offering in May. PhoneNews.com has it that the company isn't launching the device due to “system issues” confirmed both by MetroPCS employees and Motorola representatives.

The Motorola Evoke QA4 was spotted at CTIA Wireless 2009 in Las Vegas running under a custom variant of the MING Linux platform, which is used in China, while also sporting better hardware specifications, such as the responsive touch display. Though canceled by MetroPCS, it seems that the handset will still be launched by Cricket in May, yet no details on the price tag it will feature are available at the moment.
