Why no 20 before the 10?

If there's one game that can shatter the videogame charts in the United States while barely making an impact in Europe, then we must be talking about the NCAA Football, the college level football simulator that is being created by EA Sports.

Publisher Electronic Arts has announced that it plans to release the next installment in the NCAA franchise on July 14, a date which is probably now marked down in the calendars of college football lovers.

The company has also created a site, predictably called ncaafootball10, set to gradually unveil the content of the game, by offering videos, screenshots, blogs and a torrent of news related to the upcoming game.

As always, Electronic Arts is playing up the competition to guess who will be the athlete that will grace the cover of the game. It seems that each of the console versions of NCAA Football 10 will have a different guy on the cover and there would be no surprise if Electronic Arts organized a content to guess the actual names for the entire line up.

The most important feature will be the fresh game mode called Season Showdown. The mode will blend the difference between the simulated game world and the real world. Every game played in NCAA Football 10 will count because “fans declare their loyalty to a favorite school and give the ultimate show of support in a nationwide competition. All college football fans will have an opportunity to participate in Season Showdown, as credits not only accumulate in-game but players can also earn credits for their school via new web-based games.” This means that the results of the game will now become linked to the way people relate to them in real life.

Electronic Arts also promises that the Tiburon developed title will feature visual enhancements, while also offering all school colors, cheerleaders and mascots in order to make the match day a true experience. All the 120 schools that are part of the NCAA are completely simulated in the game.

Don't forget that NCAA Football 10 is set to arrive on July 14 (France's National Day; that's an odd choice for something so American, right?) on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Portable.
