Publisher EA Sports and developer Bright Future have announced the release of the third patch for FIFA Manager 09, the football management game that accompanies football simulator FIFA 09.

The update is very important, as it brings the player database up to speed, including all the transfers made during the winter break. There are also some significant changes made to the Live Ticker and to the players’ pictures. This crucial update can be downloaded from Softpedia. EA Sports says that, after you install it, you can continue previous saved games without any problem.

FIFA Manager 09 contains no less than 42 countries for which players are licensed, both in name and in appearance. The company has taken the time to watch the transfers that have been made in all these countries and the result is staggering: all the transfers that went through, from the high profile ones to the more obscure players, are fully integrated in the game. EA Sports also says that Bulgaria has joined the ranks of the fully licensed countries and the database now contains names and stats for no less than 30,000 football players.

Most of the other changes are small and only impact the visual aspect of the game (less mixing of player heads, penalty goals described as such in the post match screen). Most crashes have also been eliminated. The Live Ticker has sustained significant changes and the developers boast that “the number of goals after corners is massively reduced, the ticker is further extended, various text bugs were fixed, the penalty shoot-out was improved.”

The image database of FIFA Manager 09 has also been expanded, including 600 player pictures and 60 XXL pictures. EA Sports is promising that the game will receive further updates if this third patch fails to solve all the big issues that players have experienced.
