Mobile phone maker Motorola has just unveiled to the world its first handset based on Google's Android operating system, the Motorola Cliq, and previous reports also pointed towards another such device getting ready for release, the Motorola Sholes, yet it seems that the company won't stop at this number when it comes to the Android phones it should launch on the market.

According to Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry, cited by businessweek, the company is gearing up to release a number of ten Android-powered devices during the following six to ten months. Motorola was already believed to plan on playing big when it comes to the Android operating system, but no one expected it to play that big, that is for sure.

It seems that the move towards Google's platform is Motorola's approach towards regaining the market share it has been losing during the last several quarters. Thus, its Android devices are projected to reach the market priced anywhere between $39 and $399, at least this is what Chowdhry says that industry sources have pointed out.

For what it's worth, this might prove true after all, as the company has been already reported to plan on placing orders for tens of millions of new devices with ODM makers in Taiwan and China. Nothing is known for sure at the moment, but all roads seem to be heading towards the same destination: Motorola is making great efforts to regain its position on the market.

During the second quarter of the ongoing year, the company's market share was of around 5.5 percent, a figure much lower than the one it used to report a few years ago. Analysts have already suggested that Android might represent Motorola's salvation, especially if it is targeted at the mass-market, and it seems that, if we had our reserves believing that, the phone maker is confident in its regeneration capabilities.
