A candybar iDEN phone

Motorola i290 is one of those phones that look practical and unbreakable. It has not caused much of a stir until now, as its rugged looks probably are not all that appealing. Still, news of it soon coming to Sprint have sprung and have high chances of coming true quite soon.

Motorola i290's design is one of the most unappealing. Its surface is covered by a rubberized case which will make sure that you won't accidentally drop it, if that tends to happen quite frequently with your devices. The disadvantage about it is that it makes the phone look quite cheap and unappealing

The keypad comes with extremely easy to use buttons, although they are barely separated from one another. The display screen is quite small, but still a color one. In terms of appearance, the Motorola i290 handset looks like an entry-level device and it most probably is one. The low number of specifications leaves room only for speculations. Still, considering the fact that it has such a small display screen, it will surely fail in providing any evolved entertainment features.

Motorola i290 is capable of USB connectivity and also has a 2.5 mm stereo headphone jack. Moreover, it lacks a camera, one thing which will prove to be highly important for many mobile phone users.

The fact that Motorola i290 is an iDEN phone makes it highly possible for it to arrive on Sprint in the near future. For this reason, many people might look past its low performances and unappealing look. When compared to similar handsets, this one manages to look somewhat slimmer and easier to handle.

Most handsets using iDEN technology provide only limited performances and do not support comparison with regular mobile phones. This technology has been developed by Motorola in order to allow people to benefit from a trunked radio and a cellular telephone at the same time.
