Motorola introduces the world's first Honeycomb tablet in GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries. The tablet will be available starting May 8th for $735 via Axiom Telecom stores.

As expected, the 3G version is still not available outside United States, so customers from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE will be able to buy the Wi-Fi only XOOM this Saturday.

Opposite to what analysts were predicting, the U.S.-based handset manufacturer's revenues are on the rise, along with the number of Motorola XOOM units sold in Q1 2011.

It appears that the company shipped more than 250,000 tablets and around 9.3 million mobile phones, including 4.1 million smartphones.

Although Motorola reported the number of tablets shipped and not the actual number of units sold in Q1, it is a huge difference between the figures predicted by analysts (25,000) and the number that appears in the report.

Motorola XOOM comes with a large 10.1-inch widescreen HD display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and fully supports HD videos and movies.

It sports a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which is also capable of capturing HD movies (720p@30fps).

Obviously, this version of the XOOM does not require an activation, but will still be able to access the Internet via Wi-Fi connection.

In this regard, customers will be able to take advantage of a wide range of connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR support, as well as microUSB 2.0 and built-in GPS.

The device packs 16GB of internal memory, 1GB RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Equipped with one of the most powerful dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H processors available on the market, Motorola XOOM offers an improved user experience on Android widgets, multi-tasking, browsing, gaming, as well as customization.
