A new DROID device from mobile phone maker Motorola is expected to arrive on the market in the not too far future, the DROID 3, and it seems that the company is almost ready to make it official.

The upcoming, yet unannounced device was already spotted into the wild before, but newer renderings with it made it to the web recently.

The DROID 3 would sport the same design as its predecessors, the Motorola DROID and Motorola DROID 2.

As can be seen in the new photos with this device, Motorola packed it with a side-sliding five rows QWERTY keyboard, which seems pretty appealing.

Moreover, it seems that the new device would arrive on shelves with a 4-inch touchscreen, which should be able to deliver a qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution.

No exact confirmation on this emerged for the time being, but it might not be too long before Motorola decides to make the handset official.

Until that happens, exact details on the hardware specifications of this device are not available, though some suppositions on what Motorola might have packed it with did made it into the wild.

As the first photo to the left shows, the device should arrive with two ports, supposedly USB and HDMI-out.

The Motorola DROID 3 made an appearance into the wild a few days ago, along with two other Android-based mobile phones from Motorola, the DROID X 2 and the Targa.

Compared to its predecessors, the DROID 3 should offer a thinner design, most probably complemented by increased performance levels.

Undoubtedly, the new handset would manage to impress much more than the previous DROID devices from Motorola did, though it remains to be seen what capabilities it would actually bring into the mix.

In the meantime, have a look at the new photos with the device, and remember to check back on this space for more updates on the matter.
