A new mobile phone from Motorola has just made an appearance into the wild, namely the Motorola Admiral, which is expected to arrive on shelves at Sprint with support for the wireless carrier's Direct Connect service.

This is not the first time the new mobile phone makes an appearance on the Internet, though it seems that no other photos with it have been unveiled until now.

Overall, the new handset appears to be a great device, proving a great addition to Sprint's Direct Connect offering.

Some of the recently leaked details on the new mobile phone include the fact that it should sport a 1.2GHz application processor, a single-core one, and that it will run under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

The mobile phone is also expected to hit the shelves with a 3.1-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a portrait QWERTY keyboard.

Moreover, it will be released with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back and, the same as the latest Gingerbread devices, the handset should offer support for HD video recording.

The new mobile phone is also said to arrive on the market with an impressive 1,860mAh battery inside, and with a rugged design (it has been designed in compliance with the 810G military specifications).

This is only one of the mobile phones that Sprint is expected to release on shelves with support for the said Direct Connect service.

More handsets from Motorola are expected to arrive on shelves in the near future, and some from Kyocera too might make an appearance at the wireless carrier, rumor has it.

For the time being, however, nothing has been officially confirmed on the matter, though it might not be too long before Sprint decides to formally introduce the new device.

Hopefully, more info on the phone's capabilities will become available soon, along with specific details on its availability and pricing, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
