Fameo, a well-known jewelry retailer from the UK, launched a new "mobile jewelry catalogue", allowing mobile users to visit its shop via their Web-enabled handset. Available for both GPRS and 3G phones, the mobile Fameo portal enables visitors to easily browse jewelry offers, search for detailed info or check their order status, all this while on the go.

Fameo's mobile shop can be accessed at this address and, unlike most of the mobile versions of various online shops, the Fameo one is not just a reduced version of the full website, but one specially created for the small display phones have. The mobile portal comes with a comprehensive search function, as well as SMS alerts that allow you to instantly find out about new products, price changes or special offers.

The UK-based firm will go even further with mobilizing its business, and has already initiated a campaign named "Jewelry that fits your phone screen". The campaign includes, besides the newly launched mobile portal, the future development of a WAP-based shop that will bring even more enhanced features: buy jewelry and luxury accessories, compare prices and do about everything you would do on a fully online shop, all on your mobile phone.

Louise Davies, Managing Director for Fameo Ltd., said in a press release issued recently: "Fameo has always focused on its customers' needs and made them a priority. Most mobile phones currently used in the UK are capable of accessing the Internet to some degree and with mobile access, we are continuing the tradition of our innovative approach to putting jewelry shoppers first and keeping them connected".

These being said, all the British owners of luxury phones (like Nokia Vertu, Porsche P9521 or iPhones covered in precious materials) have now the chance to shop, directly from their handsets, for products that really match their tastes. This is a good thing, I guess.
