14 DAY TRIAL // Earlier this week, fashion designer L’Wren Scott took her own life by hanging herself with a scarf on an L-shaped doorknob in her Manhattan apartment. Meanwhile, in Australia, rocker and longtime lover Mick Jagger found out about her passing via phone – and he’s said to be a complete mess ever since.
The Daily Mail spoke with Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, who has revealed that his good friend and bandmate isn’t “well” and that everyone around him is concerned about it.
“He's holding up. He's okay. He's not really well. He's not really here. It was such a shock,” Watts adds.
Another source close to the rocker tells the same tab that Jagger hasn’t been sleeping or eating properly since the night he found out the tragic news, and adds, “Of course there is nothing he could have done, but that doesn't stop him feeling utterly tormented by the turn of events.”
Jagger himself posted a very touching message on his Facebook yesterday, to express his gratitude to all those who reached out to him to let him know he had their prayers and well-wishes. He also admitted that he was still “struggling to understand” so, all in all, all signs do point to the theory that Scott had not shown any signs of what she planned to do.
Several tabloids claimed that she took her own life because Jagger had dumped her for insisting they marry, which a rep for Jagger has already denied. Most reports though stress that Scott and her fashion empire were in deep financial trouble and that the immensity of it all eventually took a toll on her.
She’s been struggling to bring her fashion business into less troubled waters for years but, since 2009, debts have been accumulating fast and she did not want to turn to friends for help, least of all to Jagger, who could have easily paid off all her debts.
A more recent report says that Scott took her life just 2 days before she was to go public with the news that her fashion business would be discontinued, despite the fact that her creations were always well received, always a hit with many A-list celebrities.
Hours before she hanged herself, she texted her personal assistant to ask her to come by the apartment, so it’s possible that she wanted someone to find her. Police have already confirmed that her death was a suicide.
