L'Wren Scott's death has been ruled as a suicide by hanging by the New York City chief medical examiner's office who made the announcement yesterday, March 19. A spokesman for the office, Julie Bolcer said that “The manner of death was determined to be suicide.”

The fashion designer's remains have been claimed by her family and a funeral procession will be in the works shortly, as grieving boyfriend Mick Jagger announced that his band Rolling Stones will be canceling their sold-out Australia and New Zealand tour.

This confirms initial speculations that Scott decided to take her own life right after she responded to a text to her assistant to “come by.” The assistant later found the fashion designer hanging from a door knob with a scarf around her neck.

Speculations as to why Scott decided to take this seemingly unnecessary step were that her fashion company was in financial trouble and that she had become depressed about not being able to convince Mick Jagger to marry her after 12 years of being together.

This last part turns out to be a problem that was about to get solved as the New York Daily News claim that, according to sources in the Scott family, Jagger had plans to settle down. He had already set in motion plans to buy a multi-million dollar home in New York where he and Scott would settle down.

“Mick had recently decided to end his hotel lifestyle, and I understand they had just bought a $10 million home in New York,” said Rob Shane, the husband of Scott's sister Jan.

As for the financial debt, it's also being reported by insiders that Jagger had the intention of bailing her out, something which he reportedly had done on “numerous occasions.” The aging rocker has a net worth of several hundreds of millions of dollars, so that wouldn't have been too hard for him to do.

A clearly shaken Mick Jagger told the press he was still struggling to come to terms with the recent developments while his band members have all shown support and decided that pulling the plug on their upcoming concerts in Australia and New Zealand was the right thing to do as they allowed Jagger the time to mourn his loss.

Meanwhile, Jagger took to his own website to express his hurting: “I will never forget her,” he wrote in a statement “I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.”
