Electronic Arts and Pandemic Studios are the labels behind the highly anticipated Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, which will ship simultaneously on four platforms worldwide: Microsoft's Xbox 360, the PS2 and PS3 systems from Sony and of course on PC, some time in the holiday season of 2007.

Pandemic Studios CEO Andrew Goldman said: "Mercenaries 2: World in Flames delivers the next evolution in explosive open world gameplay-regardless of the system you play it on." I'm not so sure that the game will perform exactly the same on all four, but if he says so... "All four platforms are incredible gaming machines, and from the beginning we designed an experience that accentuates their individual strengths and delivers the interactive freedom and explosive action Mercenaries fans demand."

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is an explosive open-world action game set in a massive, highly reactive, war-torn world. A power-hungry "bad guy" messes with Venezuela's oil supply, giving birth to an invasion that turns the country into a war zone. Even if the game does launch on 4 platforms, the highest expectations will be from Sony's PS3, which sure needs a good title list at the moment.

Ea responded with the same enthusiasm regarding the release of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames: "EA Partners is proud to team up with Pandemic Studios to help execute a seamless, simultaneous global release for Mercenaries 2: World in Flames on four platforms," said EA Partners vice president and general manager, David DeMartini. "The team at Pandemic Studios is building an incredible game that will blow away gamers in all regions of the world."
