Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC seems to get ready to unveil to the world yet another high-end device that will run under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system, namely the HTC Leo. Already spotted into the wild a few times before, the new smartphone appears to have shown its true face only now, in a series of live photos that emerged on pdaclub.pl.

The first thing that catches one's attention when seeing the device is that it comes with a very large display, a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen that reportedly boasts a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. This feature will certainly prove very impressive for any mobile phone user out there, and should bring the HTC Leo in line with the already available Toshiba TG01, which also includes a large touchscreen display.

Moreover, the same as the existing Windows Mobile-powered TG01, the HTC Leo is expected to come to the market with a Qualcomm Snapdragon platform inside it, and users will enjoy yet another phone that boasts a 1GHz processor. And to make the comparison complete, we should also mention that HTC is said to have packed Leo with the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform, and that Toshiba recently announced both a TG01 Windows phone and the upgrade to WM6.5 eligibility of existing units.

The specifications list of the HTC Leo shows 512MB of ROM and 320MB of RAM that go along with the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8250B CPU at 1 GHz, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper, GSM/EGRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR capabilities, built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS, accelerometer, motion sensor, light sensor, and others more.

According to cellphonehits, the new Windows Mobile 6.5-powered device is expected to be announced as soon as September, while coming to the market sometime in early October, most probably via carriers. No official word from HTC on the phone has been said yet, and there are no details on the pricing of the Leo, yet we might learn more on it in the near future, so stay around for updates.
