T-Mobile G2

is one of the nicest mobile phones the wireless carrier is expected to make available for purchase on its airwaves during the ongoing year, and it seems that the device should deliver more goodies than what some might have expected.

The T-Mobile G2 is the first Android handset to offer HSPA+ connectivity, and a recently leaked ROM shows that it would also provide users with a new Google Voice and Voice Widget, as well as with a new set of wallpapers.

The G2 testing ROM was spotted into the wild a few days ago, when it leaked on a Chinese site, and the guys over at XDA-Developers grabbed it and started to examine it, unveiling new details on what it would include.

This discovery comes soon after Google announced call integration into Gmail, and might have some significance in this direction.

As for the new Voice Widget, it is said to offer users the possibility to check their Google Voice balance, as well as settings and toggle on and off.

The Google Voice and Widget was extracted from the leaked T-Mobile G2 ROM, and an .apk file was made available for download for the interested ones.

However, it seems that this won't work on all handsets out there, but only on those with a stock Android OS flavor, since the test ROM is based upon stock FroYo.

Android-based mobile phones with Sense on them would be able to install the solution, but the phone button won't work, as “the Sense dialer is embedded in the Sense frameworks,” according to a recent post on xda-developers.

In related news, we learn that the leaked ROM for G2 also includes some new wallpapers that Android enthusiasts would be happy to learn about.

Of course, the number of new wallpapers is only a small one, but other photos are also there, though they are already familiar to Android users.
