Killzone 3 will include support for new Sony technologies like the PlayStation Move or stereoscopic 3D, but this wasn't at the request of the Japanese company, but the choice of its developer, Guerrilla Games.

Sony is pushing the PlayStation 3 to new technology adopters through the launch of the PlayStation Move motion detection peripheral as well as through its support of stereoscopic 3D, which are now built into new games.

This doesn't mean that the company is pushing its internal studios to use them, as Guerrilla Games stated that it was its own choice to support the new systems in the upcoming Killzone 3 first-person shooter.

Guerrilla's Hermen Hulst explains that the whole team at the studio is very tech savvy and wants to push the boundaries with its projects.

"It's something that's very much core to the group of people we have here. A lot of the people are, as you've probably noticed, very tech-oriented and savvy, and we like to experiment with new hardware and new hardware features," he said.

"Of course, we're aware that we sold the company and are now part of a broader family, but this is by choice. We're always the first studio to say, 'Cool - can we try something out?'"

"I don't want to be too scared with picking up new things, because it's innovation, it's healthy. If you're working on a series, you're looking for new things to do, and it's fantastic work. The guys who get asked to work on 3D... or the gun peripheral, for instance, that's something we designed here, for all of Sony's studios."

Even if players don't have access to 3D or the PlayStation Move, Guerrilla revealed a few weeks ago that they would still have a great experience with Killzone 3.

The game will be out exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on February 22, in North America, and one day later in Europe.
