For a few, very long weeks, Katie Waissel was the most unpopular X Factor contestant ever, prompting a backlash against her that, to this day, she can’t understand. She’s now in the latest issue of Star, recreating Natalie Portman’s pose for a “Black Swan” poster.

Waissel, who is yet to land a record deal, is now preparing to go on tour with the other X Factor finalists – and only afterwards will she start thinking about coming out with an album.

In the latest issue of Star magazine, Katie recreates a pose by Natalie Portman for the “Black Swan” poster and speaks on various issues, including her relationship to former mentor Cheryl Cole, how much people hated her and what are her plans for her career.

Speaking of Cheryl, Katie says she hasn’t heard from her mentor ever since she was voted off the show. Not that she’s surprised by that, she says, because Cheryl probably has her hands full with her own projects.

“Call me controversial, but she’s doing her own thing. She’s an artist herself, she had her Christmas break and I don’t expect anything from her,” Katie says of her mentor, Cheryl, who seemed to go out of her way to keep her on the show on the latest season.

Speaking of how long she lasted on X Factor, Katie admits she still doesn’t understand why people hated her so – but believes it may have something to do with the way producers presented her to the audiences at home.

“I don’t know why I was so widely hated. At the end of the day it’s a TV show – it’s entertainment. The public hated me because they were told to. The power of editing is beautiful,” she says.

“During the live shows I wanted to jump up and tell people, ‘Hi I’m Katie – I’m not a [expletive]’ – but they’d already made up their minds,” she says.

As noted above, Katie is now preparing to go on tour with the X Factor finalists, including winner Matt Cardle. When she’s done, she’ll hopefully start working on her debut album.
