Kanye West on the red carpet before interrupting Taylor Swift at the VMAs 2009

In true “forgive and forget” fashion, MTV has already made peace with Kanye West for last year’s Taylor-Gate, which means the rapper will take to the stage in September to perform for the 2010 edition.

As he’s already said on his Twitter page, Kanye is currently working on a brand new album, therefore an appearance on the Video Music Awards is perhaps the perfect venue to showcase some new material.

Still, MTV’s decision will probably still surprise some who believed that MTV will continue with the Kanye ban for much longer for what he did to country darling Taylor Swift at last year’s ceremony, Entertainment Weekly says.

It was then that the rapper rushed on the stage as Taylor was in the middle of her acceptance speech and uttered the now infamous phrase “Imma let you finish but…” – to say that Beyonce should have been the recipient of the award in Taylor’s hands.

A massive backlash ensued, despite how many times the rapper apologized to the public and Taylor herself. Musically too, Kanye went into hiding.

The good news for his fans is that he will be making a triumphant comeback at the 2010 Video Music Awards, which will air live in September. Hopefully, there will be no interruptions this time.

“After months of backlash from his impromptu outburst, MTV has opened their arms and is hailing his forthcoming performance as a ‘triumphant return,’ during which West will likely perform a selection from his as-yet-untitled November album,” EW’s MusicMix writes.

“The news will be a surprise to many who ideally would expect MTV to punish West for last year’s debacle. But hey, newsflash to all who didn’t know: There are no morals in entertainment,” the e-zine further points out.

Morals are useless when we’re talking huge ratings – and that’s precisely what will happen to this year’s edition of the MTV awards.

“On the heels of releasing his groundbreaking “Power” clip (on MTV, by the way) and surprisingly premiering an unfinished Beyonce-assisted track yesterday, Kanye’s comeback likely will bring in ridiculously high ratings,” EW explains.

Below is Kanye West’s latest release called “Power.” It’s not a video, it’s a “painting,” he said on his Twitter page – and you can easily see why. Enjoy.
