IO Interactive has announced that their latest title, Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days, will be released one week early, that is on the 17th of August in North America and on the 20th of August in Europe and other PAL territories. The launch will be simultaneous on all three platforms that game was developed for, the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.

“The team has worked hard to deliver a game that’s different from the current trend of third-person shooters and we’re so pleased to be able to share it with the world ahead of schedule,” said Niels Jørgensen, general manager of IO Interactive. “With development now complete, why keep people waiting any longer? We want to let gamers experience the game we’ve created and get them online betraying their friends in Fragile Alliance, so we have decided to bring the release date forward by one week.”

Those pre-order Kane and Lynch 2 will receive a variety of exclusive items. Players will be able to chose from a multiplayer map entitled Radio Tower, seven new weapons to be used online, eight Chinese costumes masks that are meant to help them hide their identity, a comic book and Fragile Alliance guide, depending on the retailer where they place their order.

Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days allows players to fill in the shoes of Lynch this time around in what are some of the worst 48 hours of his life. He must escape Shanghai along with his old time friend Kane because a simple job gone wrong. IO Interactive are trying a new approach with this sequel, implementing a new cover system and a new art style. The title takes inspiration for the last two movies in the Bourne series, the third person view having shaky-cam effects.
