Despite her recent meltdown on stage in Grand Rapids, when she was not able to go through a relatively simple 38-minute set, Jessica Simpson seems to be back in good spirits, hitting the road opening for the Rascal Flatts. With her meltdown explained, what could have been another major concern for Jessica has also been dealt with – the singer tells fans that she has just the perfect way to avoid wardrobe malfunctions.

On stage in NYC’s Madison Square Garden, a visibly jolly Jessica told fans that she often found herself in very awkward situations, when her clothes simply refused to keep up with her energetic moves onstage. In order to avoid further incidents such as this from happening, Jessica has devised a new wardrobe item, the “skort,” which is supposedly more trustworthy than any pair of regular pants.

“I’ve had times when my pants split right down the middle when I bent down to reach a note. That’s why I’m wearing a skort - not a skirt, not a short - just so they wouldn’t split.” Jessica told fans laughing. In all fairness, several media outlets are pointing out, the skort also looks better on her, as opposed to the high-waist jeans she wore a while back and that got people talking of her “fuller figure,” while also leading to the so-called “fat-gate” that followed shortly after.

A week ago, fresh out of the “fat-gate,” Jessica Simpson held all the headlines again as she struggled through her performance during the Grand Rapids concert. With her rep quickly dismissing the debacle that happened in front of an 8,000+ crowd as a simple “off night,” some fans still were not convinced that “perfectionism” was behind the meltdown, as the publicist insisted.

“So I’m watching Jessica Simpson and after her third song, she would kinda just stop singing. She would look right at the camera and say, ‘Sorry I can’t do it.’ No one could figure out why because she sounded great. After that almost every single song that she sang she would just start crying. And she would mouth in the microphone ‘Please God help me through this.’ At one point she said all she wanted to do was to walk off the stage. She made it sound like she was upset because she couldn’t sing as well as she thought.” one concertgoer told the local media about what went down that night.
