Right after Sony confirmed that the a very special Jak and Daxter HD Collection is coming next year, Naughty Dog, the original developer of the series, has talked about the franchise, just as it’s celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first game, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.

The PlayStation 2 saw the release of a huge amount of high quality franchises, from the God of War series to the Sly Cooper one.

After seeing remastered edition of both the aforementioned franchises, a new HD collection is being prepared, consisting of the three games from Naughty Dog’s Jak and Daxter series.

Now, after already hearing the first details of the special collection, Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells has looked back on the old series and revealed just how much the team tried to push the PS2 to its limits, introducing new features with each game, from Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, to Jak 3, and how they will now be brought to the PS3 with this collection.

“The evolution of the franchise was a long, fun and winding road, and we are delighted to be able to share it with the current console generation. With the Jak and Daxter Collection, we’re bringing the first three installments of the original PS2 series to PS3 on one Blu-ray disc.”

“Mass Media has been working closely with our team at Naughty Dog to remaster Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II and Jak 3 for the collection. Each title will now offer refined 720p High Definition visuals, smoother gameplay animation, full stereoscopic 3D functionality and trophy support.”

While the Jak and Daxter HD Collection still doesn’t have a release date, except a loose February one, fans can still look forward to learning more about the upcoming trilogy of titles and what new things they'll include when they'll finally appear for the PlayStation 3.
