Microsoft and 343 Industries have just revealed the first actual gameplay video for their upcoming Halo 4 first person shooter, complete with commentary from the developers at the studio.

Halo 4 has been at the center of quite a few leaks in the last few days, some of them fake, like a teaser trailer with a release date, while some were true, like yesterday’s first screenshots.

Now, 343 Industries, the game’s developer, and Microsoft, its publisher, have presented the first actual gameplay video from Halo 4, after the cinematic one we got to see last year at E3 2011.

Besides footage from inside the game, you can also admire plenty of commentary from the staff of 343 Industries, who share quite a few details about the upcoming shooter, including its multiplayer mode and the return of older items, like the Battle Rifle.

Besides these details, the video also focuses on the new look of protagonist Master Chief and on his voice.

343 Industries’ Creative Director Josh Holmes also talked about the game’s overall feeling, saying that it’s faster-paced and more similar to Halo 3 than the most recent Halo: Reach title.

"It's faster paced and more intense in terms of the immersiveness of the experience and just the overall visceral-ness of the experience - that's been a real focus for our team," he said.

"When you look at Halo games throughout the series they've changed pretty substantially in terms of the pace of play. Halo Reach is much slower and more methodical than Halo 3. What we wanted to do is push the balance back towards a faster paced combat feel."

As of yet, not a lot of other details are known about Halo 4, but you can expect Microsoft to begin sharing more pieces of information in the near future with the legions of Halo fans.

Until then, check out the actual video below.
