Despite a number of rumors spreading over the Internet it seems that Halo 4 will launch on the Xbox 360 and fans of the series will have to wait for the next installment in the Master Chief powered series in order to see what it can do with a new gaming platform.

Writing on popular video game related forum Neogaf Frank O'Connor, who is the leader of the development studio 343 Industries, has stated, “Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine.”

The new game will once again feature Master Chief and his Artificial Intelligence companion, Cortana, as they tackle a new and unspecified threat in deep space.

The game is set to be launched during the fall of next year.

Analysts are widely expecting Microsoft to announce a new gaming console at the E3 2012 trade event and the console will be avaialble during 2013.
