Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is reportedly taking into consideration the possibility that it would bring on the market tablet PCs

, Jack Tong, vice president for HTC Asia confirmed recently.

According to him, the company will focus on the release of smartphones running under Google's Android operating system, as well as on those powered by the Windows Phone 7 platform, but is also looking at other devices form factors too.

At the same time, he also stressed on the fact that the company is already offering mobile phones that pack various screen sizes, including some with four inches and above displays, as DigiTimes reports in a recent article.

Unfortunately, Tong did not offer specific info on whether or when HTC would release a tablet PC. Previous rumors suggested that HTC might launch such a device during the first quarter of the next year.

Since the Google Android operating system is on a fast track to the first place on the market, the company will keep pushing more handsets powered by it on shelves. At the same time, it would focus on Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system too.

For the Asia-Pacific market, the company would plan mainly Android handsets, but it would also come up with Windows Phone 7 handsets for English-speaking users in markets like Singapore and Australia.

For the time being, the platform does not offer support for Chinese and other languages in the area, and it won't receive it until the second half of the next year either.

While early sales might look promising for Windows Phone 7's global adoption, only the first quarter of 2011 would who whether the platform is indeed poised for success or not.

The handset vendor is also set to increase shipments of its high-end devices in December, so as to be able to move over nine million units in the fourth quarter. The company is aiming at revenues of over NT$100 million (US$3.29 million), for the time frame.
