Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation might be next on the list of handset vendors to come to the market with a tablet PC running under Google's Android 3.0 operating system, the latest rumors on the matter suggest.

Following the unveiling of Android 2.2 slates from Samsung or LG, and rumors that Motorola is readying an Android 3.0 tablet itself, more rumors on HTC's upcoming device have just made it into the wild.

A recent article on Digitimes cites Taiwanese component makers which stated that the company would plan the launch of its own tablet PC for the first quarter of the next year.

Moreover, the news site notes that these sources suggested that Android 3.0 might indeed be present on this device, though it all seems more as a rumor for the time being, one should agree.

However, reports on HTC getting ready to launch an Android tablet did emerge in the past, along with rumors that the company would plan a slate based on Google's Chrome OS.

Based on the close relationship between HTC and Google, it would make sense that the phone maker is planning the release of an Android tablet, that's for sure.

Moreover, the handset vendor can take full advantage of its partnerships with wireless carriers around the world for the marketing of this device.

According to the said sources, the performance levels delivered by this slate should be on par with the performance HTC's smartphones can offer.

They also noted that HTC expects to benefit from continuous support from its strategic partners.

Interestingly enough, Digitimes notes that other mobile phone makers would also plan adding tablets to their offering, and that Nokia would be among them.

Research in Motion (RIM), Motorola, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are among the companies expected to launch 7-10-inch tablet PCs in the near future, and it seems that most of these devices would run under Android.
