Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is reportedly preparing for the launch of its first smartphone to pack a 3D display, while aiming at being the first handset vendor in the world to launch such a handset.

Recently, a job listing spotted on the company's website pointed at plans that HTC has for making some steps in this area, but it seems that things are actually more evolved than what we were led to believe.

HTC is said to have plans to make the move to 3D displays before anyone else on the market would be able to, at least this is what TechRadar states in a recent article.

According to the news site, while it already brought 3D solutions to last year's MWC event in Barcelona, HTC is aiming at pushing things forward during next year's conference.

It appears that the handset vendor is aiming at quickly becoming the leading provider of 3D-enabled smartphones, and at keeping the title for a long time.

The fact that it was looking for an engineer familiar with the technology can be seen as the living proof of HTC's plans in the area, the news site suggests.

Sources with the company even suggest that we might see the first HTC smartphone (superphone) with a 3D display launched on shelves before the end of the next year.

As previously reported, HTC announced that it was looking for a Baseband Design Engineer who would be responsible with the “integration and evaluation of new display and camera technologies for next-generation mobile devices.”

The handset vendor also stated that the successful candidate should have “Familiarity with multiple display technologies ( TFT-LCD, PMOLED, AMOLED, E-ink, etc).”

In addition to 3D displays, HTC is also greatly interested in the latest developments in e-ink solutions, as well as into the AMOLED technologies, and it is expected to focus its resources on the matter at the new HTC R&D center in North Carolina's Research Triangle Park.
