Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has responded to rumors regarding the delays of its Windows Phone 7-based handsets, stating that it would ship the handsets starting with this week, just as promised before.

A few days ago, rumors emerged regarding the delay of Windows Phone 7 devices from HTC, due to a series of glitches the new operating system from Microsoft would sport.

However, the handset vendor, the largest maker of Windows phones around the world, stepped up and denied these rumors, saying that its WP7 devices would ship in due time.

“We are shipping our (WP7) phones this week, as planned,” a spokesperson for the company stated, zdnet reports. “Everything pointing to a delay in delivery is wrong.”

Last week, HTC unveiled officially a number of no less than five mobile phones running under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system.

Four of these devices are set to arrive on shelves starting with this year, namely the HTC HD7, 7 Mozart, 7 Surround, and 7 Trophy, while the fifth would arrive only next year, the HTC 7 Pro.

HTC did say that its devices would be shipped as promised, but did not deny the existence of the said issue with the Windows Phone 7 mobile OS.

Unfortunately, the company did not offer details on the glitch, nor did Microsoft comment on the matter, though rumor has it that it would be related to the customizations HTC planned for the mobile platform.

According to a recent article on focustaiwan.tw, HTC's stock was affected by the rumors regarding this delay.

“The glitches made investors here very cautious, as they are afraid that the technical problem will affect HTC's shipments in the fourth quarter,” TLG Asset Management analyst Arch Shih said, the news site reports.

However, it appears that HTC said it was aware of the problem, and that it was working on finding a solution for it fast.

The first Windows Phone 7 devices are set to hit the shelves as soon as tomorrow, in various markets around Europe and Asia-Pacific.
