14 DAY TRIAL // Australian wireless carrier Telstra announced recently the introduction of two new mobile phones running under the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system, namely the HTC Touch Pro2 and the LG GM730f. In addition, the mobile phone operator also mentioned that the two devices would come with compatibility with its NextG HSDPA network.
The HTC Touch Pro2 will be sold exclusively by Telstra by the end of July, and comes to the country with a full range of productivity tools, while also delivering all the features consumers are interested in. The device comes with a full slide-out horizontal QWERTY keyboard, and sports a large 3.6-inch WVGA tilt display, not to mention the support for Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents it includes.
At the same time, the new mobile phone also comes to the carrier's users with the HTC Touch Flo UI, as well as with GPS navigation capabilities, 7.2Mbps-rated HSDPA mobile Internet speed functionality, asymmetric speakers, and Windows Mobile 6.1 as its operating system, with support for the upcoming Windows Mobile 6.5 iteration of the platform. According to the wireless carrier, the device will become available for purchase on July 21, featuring a price tag of $1499.
The second handset, LG GM730f, comes to the operator's lineup in an ultra-slim form factor, while also including 7.2Mbps-rated HSDPA mobile Internet speeds, a 3-inch touchscreen display, push email capabilities, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, and an MP3 player. The same as HTC Touch Pro2, the phone comes with WinMo 6.1 but will get upgraded to 6.5.
Other features of the LG GM730f include LG’s new S-Class user interface, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as video calling capabilities. The device is also exclusively available on Telstra and will be launched in Melbourne and Sydney on July 28. The phone comes with a price tag of $979 outright, but can also be acquired with an $80 plan for a 2-year contract.
