Following last week's announcement made by Orange UK, O2 Germany officially stated that it would sell the new HTC Touch HD smartphone in Germany. The deal with the Taiwanese company offers O2 a four-week exclusivity over the device's distribution in Germany.

Touch HD Pocket PC was officially announced by HTC back in September, but no certain date for its availability was disclosed. Starting this week, the device is offered in two European countries, UK and Germany. While Orange offers it for only 80 GBP with a 40 GBP per month plan, O2 Germany carrier gives the same device for about 290 EUR together with one of their subscription plans. Still, we don't know what kind of plan you have to choose to benefit from this price, or whether the offer is available with any O2 Germany plan.

HTC's Touch HD features a huge 3.8 inch WGA touchscreen (480 x 800 pixel resolution), a 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus, but no flash, a secondary camera for videocalls, built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS function, 3.5 mm audio output jack, Stereo FM radio with RDS function, MP3 player, YouTube support, accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, touch-sensitive navigation controls and TouchFLO 3D user interface.

The device runs on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 platform and is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7201A 528 Mhz processor. It features 288 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, but also a microSD memory slot for storage space expansion.

The smartphone can be considered a complete communication tool as it features HSDPA (7.2 Mbps) connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support, miniUSB port, and support for SMS, MMS, Email and Instant Messaging.

The best thing regarding the deal is the fact that O2 Germany will sell HTC Touch HD without any SIM-lock. The smartphone will be available through O2 Germany carrier starting mid-November.
