On Saturday, October 11, HTC announced in Dubai the launch of its new HTC Touch Viva. The device uses TouchFlo, HTC's own finger-touch optimized navigation, which enables fast and one-touch access to all the phone functions users might want at a given moment.

The smartphone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, so users will be able to sync their calendar, contacts, emails, and everything else for that matter, with their PC, but also to surf the Internet and take advantage of all of the functions of the OS.

Touch Viva will provide users with a 2.8-inch display, a more than acceptable size in mobile phones, whether it comes to Internet browsing or viewing the photos users take with the 2 MP camera. The phone runs on a TI OMAP 850, 201 MHz processor, 128 MB of RAM, 256 MB of flash, and also comes with a microSD card slot. As for connectivity, it uses an HTC ExtUSB (audio jack and mini-USB all-in-one) and Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, so that users are sure have more than one way of connecting the phone to their PC. The device is a quad band GSM/EDGE smartphone that will occupy 104.5 x 59 x 15.75 mm of a user’s “pocket space.”

“The Touch Viva is a stylish, flexible and user-friendly touch phone that is also affordable,” said General Manager for Middle East and Africa, Kevin Chen. “The HTC Touch Viva is equally appealing to both professionals and the younger generation.”

For the Middle East, the device will be available in gray at all the major retailers, and it will have an estimated price of 354 US dollars. The phone will be made available first in the United Arab Emirates.
