On Monday, leading mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced the opening of new European and UK headquarters, based in Slough, and also unveiled a few details on the company's latest achievements.

Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation, members of the HTC board and Florian Seiche, president of HTC EMEA were present at the ceremony, and they highlighted the company's commitment to consumers, operators and partners across the region.

The leading handset vendor announced that its European operations had been growing lately, and that over 50 territories were already included here.

Last year, the company managed to sell a number of no less than 25 million handsets all around the world, with revenues that topped $9 billion, marking an increase of over 93 percent when compared to the previous year.

In 2011, the company managed to sell a number of over 9.7 million smartphones around the world, which shows an increase of 192 percent when compared to the previous year, and also a rise of 6 percent from the previous quarter.

“HTC is on a hugely exciting journey, from humble beginnings to a global brand,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation.

HTC is growing on all fronts in 2011; we’re attracting new, exciting talent to the senior management team and increasing our commitment to local markets through investment in people and partnerships.

“Our new European office is a natural next step to show our commitment to the EMEA market and we look forward to using this office as a base from which to drive the European mobile market forward in the years to come.”

The newly opened facility is aimed at housing the mobile phone maker's senior management, sales & marketing and engineering teams, both for HTC EMEA and for HTC UK.

The company notes that the investment in coming up with the headquarters for the EMEA market shows that the company has enjoyed an impressive growth during the past few years.

The new headquarters for the European and UK markets measures 6,500 square meters (69,692 square feet). Previously, it was the UK headquarters of O2. It will offer space for creating a number of almost 150 new positions over the next 12 months.

“Slough is the ideal base from which to operate in Europe and run our UK business, which we have seen go from strength to strength. It offers great transport links with easy access to London and the major travel hubs for the rest of Europe,” Florian Seiche, president of HTC EMEA commented.

“HTC is committed to expanding our influence in EMEA over the next few years and look forward to using this new state-of-the-art base to derive more insights into how we will communicate in the future in order to fuel mobile innovation now and in the future.”
