Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has recently released into the wild the original ship ROM for one of its popular handsets on the United States Market, the HTC Tilt2. The handset is currently available for purchase via AT&T in the US, is based on Windows Mobile 6.5, and is none other that the carrier's custom version of the HTC Touch Pro2, which was released to the market all around the world.

According to the leading handset vendor, the software solution is the “actual ROM that the HTC Tilt 2 (AT&T) shipped with,” and was made available for download for those who might need it in case a fatal error occurs. The ROM comes in as a 204.3 MB download, and is an .exe file, meaning that those who would like to install it on their handsets will have to do so via a Windows computer.

“In the event that the device has a fatal error and cannot be recovered by Soft Resetting or Hard Resetting the device, it may be recovered by reloading the original ROM. Please note that during this recovery process, the device will be Hard Reset and anything that is NOT part of the Operating System (contacts, calendar, music, etc) will be permanently deleted; always make a point of backing up your devices data on a regular basis!,” the company says about the ROM.

All those interested in having the file on their PCs can download it from HTC's support page here. In case HTC Tilt2 Original Ship ROM has to be installed on the mobile phone, one should make sure that the installation instructions provided by the handset vendor are followed to the letter, so as to make sure that nothing unwanted happens during the process. As HTC notes, all personal files on the device will be lost during the process, so one should consider backing it up before launching the installation. Head over to HTC's website for all the necessary information on the ROM.
