HTC Iris has been seen until now only in leaked images. The smartphone is heading towards a US release, as it has just been approved by FCC.

HTC is not wasting any time, as the number of mobile phones up for a release from this company proves to be quite high. The Iris model is one of the most expected ones. That is not the result of holding any revolutionary capabilities, but just because the handset has been taunting people with its concept, then with appealing images for some time now.

It was just about time to hear some more information related to HTC Iris, although the device has yet to be announced for a release or even receive some official specifications coming from the producer. What we do know up to this point reveals one truly powerful device, capable of providing solutions to most handset needs that its user might have.

HTC Iris S640 will work with CDMA850/CDMA1900/1x-EVDO connectivity, which leaves room for hopes on the possibility to download files from the internet right on the handset. The smartphone will run Windows Mobile 6, one of the most evolved operating systems.

The 2.4 inch display screen will be capable of supporting a resolution of up to 320 x 240, which will make viewing images and videos on this device quite enjoyable. The phone will also include a 2 megapixel camera, in order to respond to the basic camera capture needs, with no extra performances to pamper the user.

Other specifications for this handset also include Bluetooth and miniUSb connectivity, as well as Wi-Fi performances. The fact that it will run on a Qualcomm MSM7500 400 MHz processor and also pack 256MB ROM and 64MB RAM, along with a microSD expansion slot leaves room for high hopes of excellent responses for the user's communication needs.

The fact that this HTC Iris S640 smartphone has just been approved by FCC leaves room for hopes on a future release, maybe sometime this autumn.
